Canada has now been given Approved-Destination Status for Chinese Travelers
With the possibility of an estimated 100 million approved travelers leaving China every year by 2020, Canada is gearing up for a welcomed flood of tourists to pour into our country.
Now that Canada has been granted “Approved Destination Status” by the Chinese Government, as announced during the Prime Ministers recent visit to China, Canadian tourism destinations are preparing for a much needed influx of visitors to the Country.
This announcement by the Chinese now gives tens of millions of the countries “well to do” easier access to Canada when traveling.
Niagara Falls is hoping to see a large number of these tourists visit the City that is known throughout the world as tourism has been on a slightly downward trend ever since the SARS scare all but eliminated tourism in the Niagara Region for over a year.
One of the good things about China is that although the worlds economy has been hit with bad times, its economy has been holding steady and the segment of the population that wants to and can afford to travel is growing every day.
Estimated to reach 100 million by 2020 this could mean big business for Niagara Falls and surrounding communities.
Some of the businesses in the Falls like restaurants, attractions and hotels have already implemented some guild lines for their employees to follow while helping Chinese tourists.
Such guide lines would include learning some basic words and phrases in Mandarin, educating themselves about Chinese Customs and remembering not to joke around as much as you would when dealing with American and European visitors as the Chinese tend to be more introverted and refrain from that.
No one is quite sure exactly how the Approved Destination Status that Canada has been given will effect Niagara Falls and surrounding areas but everyone in the travel and hospitality industries are eager to find out and hopeful that the increase in tourism will help make up for the several years of lagging attendance numbers.
