Food Court Flash Mob, Hallelujah Chorus – Over 26 Million Views On YouTube!
A few weeks ago I was browsing YouTube and the below video came up. It begins by showing a normal mall setting with many people eating and relaxing in the food court. The unsuspecting shoppers were in for an for a surprise! All of a sudden a girl in a red scarf and starts singing the Hallelujah Chorus. As the song progresses others stand up and sing. As you can see within a minute or two everyone has joined in. Pretty amazing! As I watched I noticed the mall looked very familiar. To my surprise the video was filmed in the Seaway Mall in Welland, Ontario about 15 minutes from Niagara Falls!
The flash mob took place on the afternoon of November 13th, 2010 and was organized by a local photography studio in Welland Ontario

Additional Information
Since the Hallelujah Flash mob video was uploaded it has produced quite a bit of buzz throughout the world and in fact has already broken a YouTube record and has almost had 30 million views at the time of this update.
With all the attention the video has been getting some people have had various questions about some aspects about the flash mob and we have some answers here.
Some people have been wondering how this many people could possibly get together without notice and put something like this together but actually, according to the organizer of the event, Jennifer Blakeley of Alphabet Photography, the Food Court Flash Mob has been planned for several weeks leading up to the day and included the cooperation of the management and some employees of the Seaway Mall.
Other viewers have noted that the people in the food court must have all been in on it because “where did the woman on the piano keyboard come in?” “Didn’t anyone see them lugging in a large keyboard?” But in fact the woman on the keyboard began playing in the food court over an hour before the event and just appeared to be someone hired by the mall to play Christmas music during the day. This also gave lots of time for the entire group of singers to assemble slowly over a long period of time in the mall without any unsuspecting shoppers wondering what was going on.
Another popular question people have is “Why is the first girl to sing on her cell phone during the song? Is she getting the words to the song or something else?” In fact, the girl was actually just a little nervous about her role in the Flash mob and had her sister, who lives in London Ontario, on the other end for emotional support. It worked out well though because it ended up giving an even more realistic view of a random person going about their daily lives just breaking out in song!
