Animals Return to Happy Rolph's

With this next and hopefully final chapter in the ongoing Happy Rolph’s animal problems, the popular Niagara Petting zoo will remain open for the rest of the season.

As mentioned in the “Happy Rolph’s Loses Animals” article we posted earlier, the local farmer who had been supplying the animals for the petting zoo decided to take back his animals, essentially leaving the animal pens empty.

His reason for removing the animals is related to the sudden “re-assignment” of the park’s manager and contact official. The reason behind his re-assignment stems back further still to a break in at the zoo where several animals were shot with a BB gun and at leas one small animal was killed.

Since the farmer had taken back his animals the pens that once held them have remained empty. Going on two weeks now, it was unclear if Happy Rolph’s would even remain open for the rest of the season.

Happily though, it seems as though it won’t come to that. It has now been reported that a different farmer has been found that can supply the petting farm with a variety of animals to help bring the pens to life again.

Rabbits at Happy Rolphs Lennard Breugem has made a deal with the City of St. Catharines to lease some his animals to Happy Rolph’s for the remainder of the season. The animals include some pigs, lambs, a donkey, a pair of alpacas, a calf and a horse. In addition to these animals there are still many rabbits, chickens and local water foul like ducks and geese in the pond located on the property.

This deal will at least ensure that the remaining season will go through as planned and hopefully can continue on into the future, as things may finally be going smoothly for the small petting farm that is a favourite place for parents to bring the kids during the time off from school.
