Johnny Roccos Italian Eatery
Restaurant Review

Johnny RoccosI’ve visited Johnny Roccos twice recently. The first time was with some friends for their tapas night. If you’ve never had tapas it is basically small snack size portions of familiar dishes. They are usually on a numbered list and between $2-$6 per plate.

The restaurant was quite busy therefore there wasn’t many seating options however they were able to accommodate our group of eight. In hindsight I should have called to make reservations. The staff was very nice and was quick to fill our drink orders.

If you like Italian food, Johnny Rocco’s is a good choice. There was a variety of options such as stuffed peppers, pesto pasta and pizza. The nice thing about tapas is you can try a variety of different foods without wasting a large portion if it is not to your liking. The plates took awhile to come out but were worth the wait. I assume they were not expecting a full crowd that night. Tapas and Live Entertainment is held every Thursday from 7pm-11pm.

Now I am not really one for dessert however I would like to recommend the Chocolate Hazelnut Pizza. It is a smooth chocolate hazelnut spread over a hot crust topped with strawberries and bananas. Delicious and perfect for 2-4 people to share! The second time my father and I decided to go out for dinner. After being seated our orders were taken and then we were given a garlic bread loaf with a shallow dish of what I thought was sauce but found out soon that it was a flavored oil/vinegar mixture. Next time I will tell them to hold the oil.

There were many options for dinner but chose the Penne Alfredo with chicken and my dad had the Chicken Parmesan. We were served a side salad of mixed greens – the perfect size since the meals were of a generous size. I actually had to take a good portion of mine home in a doggie bag. Good thing it tasted just as good if not better the second day!

Johnny Rocco's is slightly higher priced then many of the restaurants in the area however the quality makes up for this. Both of our meals came to just over $50 CDN without any alcohol beverages.

In addition to this location on Lundy's Lane in Niagara Falls, Johnny Rocco's has recently opened a second location in St.Catharines just a short 20 minute drive outside of the city. I haven't been there yet myself but have heard the food and atmosphere is equally as appealing. If you've been to Johnny Rocco's in Niagara Falls or St.Catharines, please leave your comments for others below.
