Summer Book Club - For ages 3 - 14

Kids Book Clubs in 3D: Dazzling, Daring, Dragons! Join us for our annual Summer Book Club with great prizes and fun end-of-summer entertainment. Get all fired up over books! Also, Ready to Read for ages 3-6, Dragon Talaes. For ages 12+ join our Free Summer Breezes Teen Book Club. Programs run June 25 to August 20,2011 at all four Library Locations

Centauri Summer Arts Camp – Ages 8-18

Centauri Summer Arts Camp is a specialist arts training camp for boys and girls aged 8 to 18, located in the beautiful Niagara Region of Ontario, Canada. Centauri brings together young people from across the world and talented, experienced arts practitioners for an exciting summer of creativity, informal learning and fun!

Summer Arts Camp Programs: Centauri Arts Camp offers 40 specialty arts programs, including Theater, Stage Combat, Acting Skills, Shakespeare, Television, Film-making, Musical Theatre, Photography, Digital Arts and Design, Creative Writing, Music, Dance (Lyrical, Ballet, Hip Hop).

In addition to their chosen specialty, campers choose daily electives in each discipline, sports and crafts.

We believe summer camp is a unique environment in which young people come together to remake the world - and to do so, as much as is possible, free from the pressures they often face in school.

Location & Facilities:
Centauri Arts Camp is based at a residential school in the Niagara Region of Ontario, Canada. Our school is situated on one hundred and thirty five acres of woodland and meadow bordered by the picturesque Welland river. The central camp area is about 35 acres with permanent stone and wood buildings including boys and girls dormitories, camp dining hall, workshop & rehearsal rooms, dance hall with sprung floor, visual arts studio and theatre studio.

Located at the MacBain Community Centre, the Niagara Falls YMCA is a fully air conditioned facility featuring a leisure pool, lane pool, water slide, three large gymnasiums, a variety of multipurpose rooms, green space, outdoor playground and splash pad.

Kinder Camp – Ages 3-4
Designed specifically for the first time camper, Kinder Camp offers a variety of developmentally appropriate activities for children in a safe and nurturing environment.

Aquatics Camp - Ages 8 – 12

Designed to increase skills and develop an appreciation for the water, this camp provides campers with two swimming periods per day. Campers will have the opportunity to set their own goals, work on achieving personal bests and increase their water safety skills.

* Campers must have successfully completed YMCA Swimmer level or equivalent to register for this camp.

Mad Science Camp - Ages 6 – 10

The YMCA has partnered with Mad Science once again this summer to bring the excitement of science to your child. Campers will enjoy a portion of their day participating in traditional camp activities, balanced with thrilling hands-onexperiments from the world’s largest provider - Mad Science!

Crazy Crime Lab - Niagara Falls Week 2Sherlock Holmes would be proud! Harness and hone your observation skills as you explore what it takes to be an ace detective. Check for clues using handwriting analysis, UVprints and evidence left at a crime scene. Have some fun stepping into the shoes of a crime scene investigator while you explore the science of forensics. Campers take home cool Mad Science Gear every day!

Chemistry, Claws & Constellations - Niagara Falls Week 1Each day Jr. Mad Scientists will explore a new topic in their science adventure. Test soil for “Martian” life and experiment with space suit design. Discover pollution solutions and test what your toes have to do with tennis. Don’t forget thechemical reactions! No Mad Science camp is complete without an explosion or two! Campers take home cool Mad Science take-homes every day!

Red Hot Robots - Niagara Falls Week 5 & 6Join us for a week of fun with amazing robots! In this excitingweek campers will learn about the uses of robots in our world and spend time experimenting with super cool robots. Discover the science of circuits and how robots use sensorsto explore things around them. Campers take home cool Mad Science take-homes every day!

Out Trip Club - Ages 9 – 13

Grab your backpack and come along, we are going on a trip! Campers experience traditional camp activities complemented by a weekly trip every Wednesday or Thursday. Each Wednesday or Thursday the bus leaves the YMCA promptly at 8:30am and returns at approximately 4:45pm.Week 1 – Ontario Science Centre

Kids At YMCA Day Camp



EE Mitchelson Park/Niagara Falls Soccer Club
Springdale Avenue, Niagara Falls

Occupying three hectares of parkland in the centre of Niagara Falls, this park features two city pools, a splash pad, sports fields, playgrounds, baseball diamonds, soccer fields and green space.

Junior Sports Camp - Ages 5 – 6

Created for the physically active child, this camp will give campers the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of introductory sporting activities. From soccer to baseball, basketball and football, our program emphasizes fair play, team work and sportsmanship, while developing basic sports skills.

Sports Camp - Ages 7 – 10

Campers will be introduced to a variety of non-traditional sports, blended with ones they may be more familiar with such as soccer, baseball, basketball and football. Our program emphasizes fair play, team work and sportsmanship, while developing basic sports skills.

Basketball Camp - Ages 9 – 13

The YMCA is excited to introduce this new camp that will focus on giving campers the opportunity to improve their basketball skills. Campers will spend the morning developing shooting, dribbling, passing and defense skills through games, drills and scrimmages. During the afternoon campers will have the opportunity to participate in traditional camp activities.

Junior Soccer Camp - Ages 5 – 6

This introductory program allows campers to learn about the game of soccer in a fun and non-competitive environment. Campers will participate in games and drills that reinforce all the fundamental skills of soccer. Campers will practice skills such as kicking, shooting, trapping, throwing and passing. YMCA staff will also emphasize the importance of fair play, sportsmanship and teamwork.

Baseball Camp - Ages 9 – 13

Coaches from Bullet Proof Baseball led by former Major Leaguer Scott Bullett will spend up to three hours per day with campers practicing baseball skills including throwing, fielding, hitting, running the bases and sliding. Campers will spend the rest of the day participating in traditional camp activities.

Fireman's Park Activities
Located at Mountain Road at Dorchester, Niagara Falls

Best known for its 55 hectare natural park, located in the north end of Niagara Falls on the beautiful Niagara Escarpment, Fireman's Park includes large fields, a nature trail, pavillions and a pond for fishing.

Junior Adventure Camp - Ages 5 – 6

This camp allows campers to discover the great outdoors! Campers participate in fun and exciting programs while gaining an appreciation for the environment.

Counsellor In Training - Ages 14 – 15

This camp is geared towards teens looking for more experienceworking with children. This program engages participants by providing opportunities for involvement, practical learning and leadership practice. CITs are taught popular camp activities and create new ones, learn from counsellors and senior staff on-the-job as well as plan and lead their own programs. Thefundamentals of group dynamics, personal development, setting and achieving goals, problem solving, camper care and age-appropriateprogramming are key aspects of this stage of Youth Leadership Development. CITs will spend the first two weeks learning in camp and then the final week volunteering.

CIT is a 3 week program, the $250 covers the full three weeks.


Outdoor Adventure Camp - Ages 7 – 12

YMCA Adventure camps provide opportunities for children and youth to engage in outdoor activities, while acquiring new skills and building self confidence in the natural world. Adventure campers rotate through program areas including nature, sports, arts and crafts, and adventure based initiatives.

Ultimate Leadership Camp - Ages 11 – 13

This two week camp is designed to teach youth basic leadershipskills through a unique camp experience. Young leaders willhave the opportunity to give back to their community through volunteering as well as experience everything camp has to offer. Participants are given the opportunity to help plan parts of the LIT program at both an individual and group level. They willlearn the importance of setting and reaching goals, supporting developmental assets, planning and execution, observance of the YMCA core values and debriefing. Leaders will also have the opportunity to decide on a group project that they will undertake during the course of the camp.

Ultimate Leadership Camp is a 2 week camp program. The fee of $250 is for both weeks.
