There is lots of history connected to the Maid of the Mist, from a big fire in 1955 that destroyed the docks a number of rescues that saved the lives of folks held in the turbulent waters near the Falls.

The crafts themselves take travelers from the boarding docks in the rivers edge not far from Clifton Hill and brings them close enough to the Horseshoe Falls that they are encompassed inside the mist and can hear not a single thing except the thundering roar of the water as it falls as it slams into the mighty Niagara River!
