Milestones Grill + Bar In Niagara Falls
Restaurant Review

We both aren’t really the type that like fancy restaurants. I’m happy with a local pub or eatery. Friends of ours said they went to Milestones and enjoyed it. We thought we would give it a try.

Milestones is located just minutes from the Falls in the Sheridan Fallsview Hotel and Conference Centre. I originally thought we might have difficulty parking but was happy to find out we could just pull into the
huge hotel parking area. This was a little walk to the restaurant, but we didn’t mind.

The restaurant is located just upstairs off the main foyer. If you’re staying at the Sheridan Fallsview Hotel, its perfect – you don’t have to leave the building. When we went upstairs, there was loud music playing in the room across the hall. At first we thought there might have been a
wedding going on but later found out that it was a dance competition!

We entered the restaurant and were greeted by the hostess. Apon first impression the restaurant was very similar in atmosphere to the Keg with booth seating, soft lighting and the wait staff dressed in black with long white aprons. We were seated in a booth facing the entrance on the opposite side of the bar area. The
fairly large restaurant was quite busy – about 60% full. I’m not sure if it always like this on a Friday night or maybe it was due to the dance competition. There was also a large group that was celebrating a birthday party.

The seating was very comfortable and clean. The food smelled great! I guess we would soon find out if it was worth the price. Milestones is one of the
more pricey options in the Falls.

Our server was very friendly and offered us drinks. It would have been nice if she mentioned some of the feature drinks or pointed out the bar menu. It wasn’t till after I ordered my drink that I saw the enticing frozen cocktails and martinis.

I ordered the grilled chicken salad and sweet potato frites as an appetizer. Tim ordered the sirloin
steak with garlic mashed potatoes. One complaint I have about Milestones is that they do not allow for any kind of substitutions on some of their meals. He requested something other than steamed vegetables with his meal and unfortunately they were unwilling to accommodate this. It surprised me that a well known restaurant like Milestones would not aim to please their customers with this one small request.

The food took longer than expected to arrive. We were given drink refills during our wait. When the server took our order she asked if I wanted to have my appetizer prior to my meal. I guess she didn’t hear or forgot my response because my frites were brought out at the same time as my salad. This was kinda annoying but since the salad was cold, it was okay. I was beginning to reconsider going there on such a busy night. It was apparent the servers seemed too busy to take notice of this.


As you can see in the picture we took the steak was not very large for almost $30. When I asked Tim how it was he said it was perfectly grilled and really liked the peppercorn sauce. The garlic mashed potatoes were also very good.

The dip that came with my sweet potato frites was very spicy which I was not expecting. Honestly the
appetizer was nothing special. It was okay however I could have probably made the same dish at home. When I looked at the couple sitting beside us, they were enjoying the hot spinach and artichoke dip with crispy nachos. For an extra three dollars, I think this would have been a better choice!

The chicken salad I ordered was very good. I loved that the chicken was thinly sliced and really tender. The
mixed greens were fresh and the red tortilla chips mixed in was a nice touch. I would have liked to see a few more different vegetables included such as cucumber, peppers or carrots. For a “premium salad” it was pretty plain. The peanut lime vinaigrette dressing was very good and the salad was not soaking in it – which I liked!

There were many dessert options. At this point we were both pretty full so
we decided to pass. The waitress brought our bill. No after dinner mint unfortunately. This is not a huge deal but for the cost of the meal – almost $80 CDN with tax and tip I feel Milestones was lacking on paying attention to some small details. Just mention as well, we did not order any alcoholic drinks.

So my comments about Milestones in a nutshell? Great atmosphere and location, good food, okay service, servers lacking in attention to detail. If you want to go to Milestones I would recommend going for drinks and appetizers. They offer an appetizer sampler for $28.99 which includes calamari, crispy honey phyllo shrimp and thai chicken drummlettes.
They also have a special on Monday nights where you can bring three of your friends to enjoy a bellinis and appetizer each for $40 total. I scanned a copy of the menu we were given. Keep in mind that this does not include the entire menu. All the appetizers and desserts are not listed or the drink menu. This is just to give you a quick peek.
