Free Events During the Mothers Day Weekend!
No matter what time of the year you are traveling, getting free stuff is always a great thing! There are many popular attractions and several events throughout Niagara that are free to take part in.
The Falls: The thing that made Niagara Falls the place to see is, of course, the Falls themselves. Niagara Falls on the Canadian side has kilometers of paved sidewalks running along the Niagara River giving visitors spectacular views the whole way along. You can even get within a few feet from the brink of the Horseshoe Falls at the Table Rock Welcome Center .
Annual Spring Show at Floral Showhouse: Discover paradise at the Floral Showhouse during this Easter Long weekend. Located just ½ a mile from the Horseshoe Falls, on some of the most beautiful gardens maintained by the Niagara Parks, the Flower Showhouse Spring Show displays include Collections of orchids, succulents and other tropical plant species.
Location: 7145 Niagara Parkway, Niagara Falls Times: 9:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. daily More Info: Paid parking is available.
**Special Note** The Floral Showhouse is celebrating the blossoming of the world's largest flower, Titan Arum, for the next couple of weeks as the second of two flowers begins to bloom, producing a flower that reaches more than 6 feet in height. It is extremely rare to see one of these flowers bloom and therefore the showhouse is extending their hours to 9pm daily so that as many people can get a chance to see it.
Have a Picnic in a Niagara Falls Park
A home-made, hand-packed picnic may be just the mini vacation your mom's been looking for! Without making her to do any of the work, pack a picnic basket with a blanket and head out for a relaxing afternoon at one of the many parks along the river. You're just minutes away from the Falls and its a great place to bring the kids along. Don't forget the frisbee and camera!
Check out our Niagara Falls Parks page to see some of your options. We recommend the Lilac Garden located next to the Floral Clock as many of the lilacs are now out in bloom.
