Our Experience At The
Niagara Botancial Gardens

While in the area one afternoon we decided to visit the Niagara Botanical Gardens located along the Niagara Parkway and Great Gorge.

The 99 acre park is known for its lush gardens and beautiful landscaping just minutes away from the Falls. The Butterfly Conservatory is also located within walking distance.

As we got closer to the park I noticed the parking lot was almost full. I know that the Botanical Gardens is a popular attraction in the summer months but quickly realized the reason for the larger than normal crowds. There were multiple weddings taking place that day!

As we made our way through the entrance and down the pathway we saw the several bridal parties posing for pictures. As you can see from the pictures I took, it was a beautiful day!

The Botanical Gardens is not only a great place for your wedding or event, there is also horse drawn carriage rides, art vendors and beautiful pathways to enjoy. The grounds are maintained by the Niagara Parks Commission and the Horticultural students from the local college.

You will find many different flowers and plants ranging from perennials, rhododendrons, azaleas and a formal parterre garden. There is also a herb and vegetable garden on site. In front of the vegetable garden there is a sign that reads “School of Horticulture Vegetable Garden – The garden is designed and maintained by the students of the School of Horticulture. The harvest is served to the students in residence and donated to the local food bank. Kindly leave the harvesting to the students. Enjoy the garden!”

Walk though the Botanical Gardens and you will also see an aviary as well as a world-famous rose garden featuring over 2,400 roses. Footpaths wind around ponds and an arboretum featuring one of Canada’s finest collections of ornamental trees and shrubs.Bring your significant other or your kids to enjoy the afternoon. You’ll see a variety of plants and flowers as well as have a great backdrop for some memorable pictures. The best part of all is it is completely Free!

Visit the Niagara Botanical Gardens site for more information on the seasonal flowers in the “What’s In Bloom Calendar”, the Botanical Gardens Fact Sheet and a schedule of available gardening seminars.

Botanical Gardens Location:

2565 Niagara Parkway, 9 kilometers (6 miles) north of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls near the Lewiston-Queenston International Bridge.

Hours of Operation

Niagara Botanical Gardens is open all year round and from Dawn till Dusk. If you have a chance to see the garden in different seasons it is worth stopping by as the various flowers bloom in different seasons and various shrubs and trees change colors.

After taking a look around the Niagara Botanical Gardens you may want to see what else the
Falls has to offer here.
