Niagara

The Niagara Peninsula is a quaint little region that is surrounded on three sides by water. Nestled in the Great Lakes Region its north is the shores of Lake Ontario, Lake Erie is in the South and the powerful Niagara River connects both lakes along the Eastern side of the Region.

And located just about at the half way point in the river are the mighty Falls themselves, the world famous tourist destination visited by more than 14 million people each year.

It isn’t just the Falls that make Niagara famous world wide however. The region is also known for its robust wine and ice wine industries along with fine dining restaurants to accompany that great wine. The Region's natural beauty is also known with the escarpment towering over the region and the large Welland Canal cutting a path to navigate around the thundering waters of the river and falls.

The little picturesque town of Niagara on the Lake was the first place in North America to have a golf course, a course still in operation today.

It hasn’t been all good times however, This naturally beautiful area was also the scene of some of the bloodiest and defining moments of the War of 1812. Many historic sites still remain and are kept up by the Parks Commission and are available for tourists to see.

Whether you are planning a short day trip to Niagara or a full length vacation you will never be left bored and looking for things to do.The Falls, along with the surrounding towns and cities virtually have an unlimited number of attractions, landmarks, festivals, shopping districts, hotels, restaurants, sporting events, zoos and beaches for visitors to discover and explore.

When in the area you may want to check out some of the Attractions, Themed Vacations options, or maybe even some of the Golf courses in the area to help you plan the most for your trip.

It doesn’t matter what time of year people come to the Region because the landscape is always changing like ice forming on all the buildings and trees around the Falls themselves making for beautiful scenery or the Winter Festival Of lights, which is hundreds of lighted displays throughout Niagara Falls and of course there are the autumn colours along with the Ice wine festival in January.

So you see that a trip to the area at any time is sure to be a great time for all members of the family.

Now that you are all pumped up about coming to Niagara you may want to find some accommodations to your liking. We’ve put together a great list of them here.
