The Olympic Torch Is Making Its Way to Niagara Falls

As Canada prepares to host the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver , many communities across this large country are holding their own parties of celebration.

Keeping true to tradition, the Olympic relay torch has been crisscrossing the globe and has finally made its way to Canada.

On December 20th at around 6 pm, the torch will make its way to Niagara Falls. Carried the final 300 meters to Cities the main stage by Gord Singleton a Niagara Falls resident and Former Olympic athlete himself.

The Torch Relay celebration will be held next to the Table Rock center over looking the Falls. This event Dubbed “Fire and Ice” is aimed to blend the ideas of the Olympic torch (fire) with the spirit of the Winter Games (ice) into one. And with no better place to do so than at the brink of the Falls themselves!

The event will include music and other festivities culminating to Gords arrival with the torch to light the caldron that will remain lit until the end of the games in 2010.

The City of Niagara Falls encourages residents and visitors to please line the torch route and cheer on the torch bearers as they carry on the tradition.
