You don’t have to like ribs to go to Ribfest! Ribest in Niagara Falls is a 4 day event for the entire family!
Before checking out the new
Margaritaville
restaurant we decided to check out the Rotary Ribfest and BBQ at the Optimist Recreational Park on Dorchester Road (corner of Dochester and Morrison St)
The four day event takes place on June 18th, 19th and 20th 2010. We decided to stop by on the Sunday. This event is very similar to the one that we usually attend in St.Catharines on the Civic Holiday Weekend. Lots of food, drinks, vendors, music and entertainment for the kids. Ribfest is a great place for the entire family!
The weather was perfect when we went, warm and sunny! As we walked around the park we saw many rib cooking stations each displaying their awards from multiple years of competitions. Some of the “Ribbers” that attended this year were, Billy Bones, Bone Daddy’s. Boss Hoggs, Camp 31, Crabbys BBQ, Horn Dawgs and Silver Bullet. In addition to ribs you may want to try some of the other food vendors. For example, Kettle Corn, Bloomin’ Onions, Corn on the Cob, Ice-cream, hot-dogs for the kids and coffee.
We didn’t bring lawn chairs, but I would highly recommend them if you decide to go next year so you can enjoy some of the entertainment. Some of the bands that played were “The Maddhatters”, “Caverners”, “Flat Broke” and “More Bad News”.
As you can see from the pictures I took, there are many events for the kids such as inflatables, face painting, climbing wall and a “Berry-go-round” ride.
A couple suggestions if you decide to check out Ribfest yourself…..bring lawn chairs, sunscreen and a big appetite!
