Live music, business vendors, wineries and great food are just some of the things that you will find at the 2nd Annual Springlicious Festival.
June 5th, 6th and 7th Queen Street in downtown Niagara Falls was turned into a family event to kick off spring and re-establish the historic area in the growing city.
The entire street was blocked off to allow foot traffic and three stages were put up for the free concerts that took place. Throughout the day various genres of music such as jazz, country, rock and kids friendly were played by local artists. There was definitely something to please everyone.
I decided to check out the expo on Saturday afternoon. The weather was warm and sunny which was perfect for this mainly outdoor event. Many people brought their kids and I noticed some people even brought there pets along.
There was plenty of local food vendors serving a variety of food including hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken kabobs and cabbage rolls. They also had delicious funnel cakes with fruit toppings as well as freshly popped kennel popcorn. Do you remember those sugar waffles that you had at the carnival when you were a kid? Yup, they had those too!
The one thing that I found interesting was the fresh squeezed lemonade being served near the middle stage. I didn’t have a chance to try any but by the look of constant stream of people going to the stand, this was a very popular refreshment.
At the stage at the end of the street there was kid-friendly music and two blow up jumping gyms for kids under 10. Looking beside the stage, a small crowd was gathering. As I walked closer I noticed that there were two staff members from the
Bird Kingdom
holding two green parrots. At first I thought that the birds were just making regular noises that birds do until I realized the chirps was actually the birds saying “Goodbye!”. The trainers also taught the birds to say “Bless You!” when they made a sneezing noise! This was a real crowd pleaser! Check more information on the

On our way back to our car, we checked out the market vendors selling homemade items and flowers as well as some of the art galleries featuring unique pieces such stone jewelry and air-brushed wall paintings.
If you have a chance, next year around this time, I would recommend checking out Springlicious with your family or even taking the time to volunteer at the event if you live in the area. It’s a great way to help support the community.
