The Famous Restaurant Review

We had seen advertisements and heard radio commercials for The Famous Restaurant located in Niagara Fallsview Casino. Many times we had walked past but last weekend we decided to give it a try. This “upscale dinner” as advertised, is quite large and open 24 hours a day. Since the casino is open 24/7 they cater to convenience.

Just across from the Teslatron sculpture on the main floor, is The Famous entrance. I liked that the menu is just outside the doorway. Its nice to be able to look this over before going in.

While waiting in the entrance way we noticed that there were pictures and autographs of some of the “Famous” people visited the restaurant such as Wayne Newton, Anne Murray and comedian Carrot Top. I assume they dined before or after their performance at the Avalon Theatre located on the premises.

We were greeted at the door and shown to our seat, a nice booth along the perimeter of the restaurant. The waitress was friendly and took our order. I ordered the fish and chips, a slightly pricey dish at $18. Tim ordered the special, a burger and fries. The restaurant prides themselves on having “everything fresh” and no freezers in the kitchen. Our entrees seemed fresh however the appetizer salad was wilting slightly and very basic. Probably the most bland salad I have ever had…just lettuce, red onion and balsamic dressing. If I could make a suggestion, adding a few extra veggies would be nice especially since the price of the meal was more than most restaurants serving a similar dish.

Tim said his burger was good but nothing over the top. He seemed to have more vegetables on his burger than I had on my salad!

Overall service the service we received very good and we were offered free refills on our soft drinks.

In the future, I would be interested in trying The Famous for lunch or a mid day snack. They had a large selection of sandwiches and cold dishes.

Has anyone tried any of these dishes? Please feel free to leave your comments about The Famous below!
