May "24" Victoria Day Long Weekend May 19th, 20th and 21st 2012
The "May 24" long weekend as it is called, is the unofficial kick off to summer here in the Falls and it's the time that family and friends get together to start their Summer time celebrations.
This is also the weekend that just about all the attractions, parks and other popular hotspots kick off their summer time schedules.

Free Events In Niagara Falls During May and Victoria Day Long Weekend 2011
No matter what time of the year you are traveling, getting free stuff is always a great thing! There are many popular attractions and several events throughout Niagara that are free to take part in.
The Falls: The thing that made Niagara Falls the place to see is, of course, the Falls themselves. Niagara Falls on the Canadian side has kilometers of paved sidewalks running along the Niagara River giving visitors spectacular views the whole way along. You can even get within a few feet from the brink of the Horseshoe Falls at the Table Rock Welcome Center .
Annual Spring Hydrangea Display at the Floral Showhouse: Discover paradise at the Floral Showhouse during this May long weekend. Located just ½ a mile from the Horseshoe Falls, on some of the most beautiful gardens maintained by the Niagara Parks, the Flower Showhouse Hydrangea Show Features amazingly hanging baskets, some over five feet wide, overflowing with colourful Hydrangeas, as well as forced Foxglove and Delphinium will their spectacular display of blues, pinks and whites.

Fireworks Over The Falls Beginning Friday, the annual fireworks over the Falls will begin for another season along with free concerts in the park every Friday.
On Friday, Sunday and holiday Monday, free concerts will also take place at 8 p.m. on the Illumination Tower Stage in Queen Victoria Park, followed by Falls Fireworks at 10 p.m.
This sets off another season of concerts and Fireworks on Fridays along with Fireworks on Sundays til the end of the summer.

Horse & Carriage Rides In Niagara Falls Isn't this romantic? Enjoy the sights of Niagara Parks from the comfort of a horse-drawn carriage. Two relaxing tours are available: meandering through the 99-acre Botanical Gardens, or beside the Falls through Queen Victoria Park.
The Queen Victoria Park/Falls tour is available year-round, weather depending, and departs from beside the Queen Victoria Place Gift Shop.
The Botanical Gardens tours run through the summer and depart from the south-west side of the Butterfly Conservatory.
It is not necessary to make reservations. Tickets are available at the Queen Victoria Place Gift Shop or the Butterfly Conservatory Gift Shop.

Dinner Theatre – “Oh Canada Eh!” From April 06 - October 20 the Oh Canada Eh! Dinner Theatre will host their annual Oh Canada Eh! Dinner Show, a humorous view some of Canada's iconic figures such as a Mountie, Hockey player and Ann of Green Gables among others.
If you live in Toronto you may be happy to hear that GO Transit has brought their annual train service to Niagara Falls back for another year. Perfect for the Long weekend!
Beginning service for the May Long Weekend, GO trains will be making the round trip to and from Niagara Falls each weekend throughout the summer. The trains will also have a special car to allow riders with bicycles to make the trip so that they may tour the region by bike once here.
The Long Weekend Schedule *subject to change.
Friday, May 18 the train leaves Union Station at 6:20 p.m. and arrives in the Niagara Falls VIA Rail Station at 8:24 p.m. A return train leaves Niagara Falls at 8:40 p.m. and arrives in Union at 10:44 p.m.
Saturday, May 19, Sunday, May 20 and Victoria Day, Monday, May 21, trains leave Union Station at 9 a.m. and 4:15 and 8:10 p.m. They arrive in Niagara Falls at 11:04 a.m. and 6:19 and 10:14 p.m.
The trains leave Niagara Falls at 11:30 a.m. and 7:30 and 10:30 p.m. They arrive in Union at 1:24 and 9:24 p.m. May 19, 20 and 21 and 12:34 a.m. May 20, 21 and 22.
