It is one of the most popular and well known sets of waterfalls in the entire world. Arguably, Niagara Falls attracts more visitors every year than any other travel destination in Canada.

More than 14 million people visit the Falls every year and out of those, many will be going there specifically to see the great natural wonder that the city was built around. The thundering Niagara Falls.

Ever since the first visitors to the Falls, people have been looking for different ways to view them, looking for that perfect spot where they can see and take in as much as they can. Living in this day and age, visitors to Niagara Falls have more options to view the Falls than ever before.

The number of different locations where a person can view the mighty Falls is to numerous to count so we have put together a list of the big attractions you can visit and from each one, gain a different view and new perspective of just how wonderful they really are.

Views of the Falls

From the Water

The Niagara River is split up into two main parts. The Upper River and Lower River. This is because as Niagara falls was formed it literally carved out the rock and created a Gorge.

Over thousands of years, the falls has snaked its way up the river to where it is today leaving a long gorge or lower river in its wake.

It is on this boat ride that visitors get a true sense of just how huge the waterfalls really are and the sound is so unbelievable, this is where you will quickly learn why they call it “Thundering Niagara Falls”.

From Behind

Journey Behind the Falls: Moving up a little, the Journey Behind the Falls tour takes visitors down and through tunnels that were dug out to give people a small view of the Falls from behind them. There are several platforms to view the waterfall from both inside and out. This is as close as you can get to Niagara Falls.

From Ground Level

Ground level is the level at which the water thunders over the brink of the falls and rushes down to the gorge below.

There are very few buildings or other obstructions that line the Niagara River anywhere near the Falls allowing visitors many vantage points to see the waterfalls from almost anywhere along the Niagara Parkway.

There is one large walkway that winds it’s way along this main part of the river with magnifying viewing glasses dotted throughout it giving people an even better view of the river and Falls.

Table Rock: One of the best places to view the falls at ground level is also the spot where you can get closest to the waters edge without actually going over.

Table Rock is a building whose beginnings go as far back as 1860 and has been providing food and souvenirs to visitors along with added observation decks to get the best views the falls possible from this level.

From Just Above

There are many buildings and hotels that have been built in the city specifically to capture the best views of the Falls as possible.

The Skylon Tower : One of the most famous and unique buildings that make up the Niagara Falls skyline, the Skylon Tower offers spectacular views of the Falls from 775 feet above.

Enjoy dinner or lunch in the rotating restaurants while taking in views of Canada and the US that go on for miles.

The Minota Tower : Another famous Niagara Falls landmark, the Minolta Tower Great year round views of the Falls with an observation deck located on the 25’th floor. The windows of the observation deck are glazed with a special anti-glare coating ensuring your photos of the view turn out great.

The Niagara SkyWheel : One of Niagara Falls newest and largest attractions is the SkyWheel, a 175 foot tall Ferris Wheel located on Clifton Hill offers wonderful views of the waterfalls and the city.

From Way AboveA picture of one of the Helicopters from Niagara Helicopter Tours.

The final and possibly most spectacular way to view one of nature’s most awe inspiring wonders is by air.

Niagara Helicopters : Based in the City of Niagara Falls, Niagara Helicopter Tours offers one of the best views of the waterfalls, the Niagara River and the city of Niagara Falls from thousands of feet above.

Take the air tour of Niagara Falls and you will be able to see just how large the waterfalls are compared to the other landmarks of the city. This is your chance to view how the falls literally cut it’s way through the bedrock creating the gorge and turbulent waters of the lower Niagara River.

leather bags and more

Although you don’t need to see the Falls from all these vantage points to get an appreciation of how great and powerful they are, each view does offer something different and can greatly enhance your memories of your trip to this great natural wonder!
