Niagara Parks Suggestion to
"Shake off the City"
Gets Mixed Reviews

It seems that a small ad campaign put on by the Niagara Parks Commission recently has hurt the feelings of some people in Toronto.

The short video ads promoting the Niagara Region, mostly Niagara Falls to Torontonians, tells everyone to “Shake off the City” and shows a outline drawing of the Toronto skyline turning into a small bunching of trees.

Each ad demonstrates a different situation that people living in “the big city” supposedly encounter on a daily basis. Situations like having no quiet space to relax or do yoga, no room to exercise and nowhere to enjoy a good wine.

The campaign is designed to get Toronto residents to start to traveling back to Niagara again as travel from the Big Smoke has been decreasing over the past several years.

As more people begin to see the ads there is a mixed response coming from the City. Everything from people being very open to them and making plans to visit the area to people now changing their travel plans to not include going to the Niagara Region.

Traffic Jam
The video below is of a couple stuck in typical Toronto traffic jam.

Personally I don’t have any problems with the ads but then again I’m for any promotion of the Niagara Region.

In my opinion the ads are not an attack against Toronto but are an attack against the situations that living in a large city can create. Situations like being splashed while cars drive through puddles, running to catch a bus and being stuck in a traffic jam.

You can find several more of the ads at the Niagara Break Feee website to see for yourself what people are getting all out of shape about.

Torontonians or anyone living in a large city for that matter shouldn’t get angry with these ads because they just show that there are places other than where they live that they can go and visit that offers things like large open parks, rushing rivers and streams, open air markets actually located in the country and much more that you just can’t get in a big city.

So if you live in Toronto or any big city for that matter you may want to come to Niagara and experience for yourself what the ads are trying to say. That you should “Shake of the City” and relax in a place where you can let go of the stresses of big city life.
