Weather In Niagara Falls
What Can I Expect?

If you’ve never visited Niagara Falls you may be wondering what the weather is like and what types of clothing you should pack.

You may have even heard the ridiculous myth that Niagara Falls receives winter weather all year round. This is far from true! Niagara Falls enjoys a four season climate which provides a beautiful backdrops for your memorable photos!

Winter
Between January and March the temperature is quite cold with the average temperatures being between -8 and 3 degrees Celsius (16 and 37F). Snowfalls are likely so I would suggest wearing layers of clothing for those colder days. You may want to bring your ice skates to use at one of the arenas in the area and your winter attire for tobogganing at Fireman’s Park.

Find things to do during a winter visit in Niagara Falls.

Spring
The weather warms up slightly between April and June. You can expect average temperatures between 1 to 23 degrees Celsius (34 and 74F). A t-shirt or sweater with a light jacket should keep you comfortable.

The Spring months are a great time to explore the Parks of Niagara Falls while in full bloom.

Summer
By the summer months of July to September you will experience warm and pleasant temperatures during the day between 11 and 26 degrees Celsius (52 and 79F). Bring your bathing suit for a refreshing dip in the pool. On the cooler days you can also visit one of the many indoor waterparks such as Great Wolf Lodge. During these months, you will be quite comfortable wearing a pair of sandles or dress shoes. Don’t forget a pair of running shoes for that evening walk or workout at the hotel gym. The temperature often drops in the evening and it is not unusual to need an extra layer of clothing. I would recommend bringing a windjacket or fleece pullover that can folded up and stored in your luggage just incase you need it. If you decide to venture closer to Niagara Falls this can really come in handy. The whirlpool creates a huge cloud of mist that can come down as a light rain. Also keep in mind that Niagara Falls affects local weather conditions.

All the attractions are in full swing during the Summer in Niagara Falls.

Fall
October is quite comfortable however the temperatures can be unpredictable in November and December averaging between -6 and 13 degrees Celsius (21 and 55F). The weather could quickly go from warm and sunny to damp and cold. It is wise to dress for a variety of conditions if possible to ensure can enjoy your stay in comfort. If you forget something or just plan to pack light, you can always find what you need at Canada One Niagara Falls Outlet or The Niagara Square Shopping Centre.
